About the role
Our team is working to ensure Zoox’s hardware and software are safe for operation in the real world through the use of simulation. As part of this process, the team is responsible for designing and running large numbers of simulations to generate key autonomy metrics.
In this role, you will be responsible for producing, maintaining and improving the simulation library. These simulations are run weekly and are the key to generating the team’s metrics which are used to make company-level decisions for the deployment of our driverless robots on public roads. Due to their visibility, these simulations are expected to be of a high caliber as they help to direct the development resources of the company. The ideal candidate will have an attentiveness to details, the ability to communicate across multiple departments and technical levels, as well as the curiosity and drive to dive into specific issues as they arise. You should expect to work with cross-functional partners across Simulation, Planning, Prediction and Perception among others.
About ZooxZoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. Sitting at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and design, Zoox aims to provide the next generation of mobility-as-a-service in urban environments. We’re looking for top talent that shares our passion and wants to be part of a fast-moving and highly execution-oriented team.

- Need to think at a systems-integration level, as well as dive into details to resolve specific low-level technical issues.
- Be highly cross-functional, so the ideal candidate should be able to understand how the various systems work at a high level and effectively communicate how our team’s systems work to cross-team technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Be able to dive into large, complex systems that are already in place, as well as help design and build new systems or tools from scratch to enable automation and scale.
- Be responsible for helping to deliver mission-critical metrics to the executive team to drive major roadmap decisions. A key skill will be the ability to effectively balance short-term priorities with longer term improvements.
