Job Description

Versant’s Software Engineering team provides core services to our business, underpinning our strategy and execution of linear & digital distribution of content, platforms, and data. As a leader of our engineering quality assurance team, you will have a direct role in defining our roadmap towards our future vision in the media landscape. 

The Director, Quality Assurance role is a technology lead responsible for the implementation of testing behaviors and release management of VERSANT’s core platform ecosystem across data management, scheduling platforms, linear & digital distribution, and AI enriched automations and workflows. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Quality Assurance Roadmap Definition 
  • Define and implement standards for test execution across service stack in critical business applications supporting public facing sites & apps, internal tools, and backend services. 
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering & Product Management leadership to align on high level feature acceptance criteria, and provide guidance and leadership to SDET and QA Resources to adhere to test behaviors and needs for feature level tests as well as broader regression suites. 
  • Review and approve testing patterns for use in test automation flows, and manage gating & CI/CD procedures for test approvals as part of broader release strategies. 
  • Define standards and technology for automation frameworks and tooling, encompassing both UI and API related testing capabilities. 
  • Team Leadership 
  • Oversee and manage teams of QA and SDET engineering resources, delivering scalable and maintainable testing frameworks & supporting tooling to optimize our release processes and focus on automation. 
  • Provide guidance to QA management and SDET resources and assist in code review and definition of automation practices to support backend & client interfaces. 
  • Ensure teams deliver impactful & thoroughly reviewed services & clients, raising bugs & feature issues proactively and collaborating closely with software engineering resources to own product delivery from initial development through production release. 
  • Facilitate agile processes with QA team leads and scrum masters, defining testing & acceptance criteria with our product management. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance in digital platforms, with 6+ years in supporting enterprise QA & SDET teams. 
  • Proven track record in software testing & automation, with significant technical experience and understanding of CI/CD processes and workflows. 
  • Experience leading teams in fast-paced, agile environments with a focus on communication & collaboration. 
  • Expertise and knowledge of test automation frameworks, such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, etc. 
  • Mastery of software development lifecycle in cloud environments with a focus on enterprise application support. 
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
