ABOUT THE ROLE
The Portfolio Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial performance and strategic equity management of a diversified portfolio of utility-scale solar assets. This role focuses on maximizing investor returns, maintaining strong relationships with debt and equity partners, and ensuring compliance with financial and contractual obligations. The manager leads portfolio-level financial analysis, reporting, and strategic direction of project financial structures, working closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, project finance, legal, and asset management. This role is pivotal in aligning project-level performance with broader investor expectations and long-term portfolio value creation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Serve as a primary point of contact post deal closing for all lender and equity commercial interactions, including both debt and tax equity investors, as well as coordinating communications, reporting, and governance for the operating portfolio.
- Lead portfolio-level financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making, working closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, capital markets, M&A, legal, and asset management.
- Prepare and distribute reporting requirements and investor materials, including quarterly compliance and operating reports, financial statements, and ownership-level performance summaries.
- Contribute to portfolio-level equity strategy discussions (ie, recapitalizations, secondary sales, or co-investment opportunities).
- Coordinate post-deal handoff meetings with capital markets to ensure all information is received and explain post-close requirements to internal teams.
- Track equity portfolio performance at the ownership entity level to include monitoring distributions, capital account movements, IRRs, and compliance with equity agreements.
- Analyze project financials, including tracking revenues, expenses, and returns as well as identify outliers or areas of concern in relation to cash management. Coordinate with finance the preparation of annual budgets.
- Partner with capital markets and asset management on long-term portfolio financial optimization. Analyze portfolio-wide statistics such as operational and financial performance data and impacts of trends across the portfolio; prepare/share statistical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate monthly/quarterly reporting loan draw reporting to tax equity and debt lenders led by the treasury team.
- Support governance processes, including preparation for investor meetings, maintaining records, and ensuring obligations under debt and partnership agreements are met.
- Assist in audits and tax deliverables related to debt and equity investments to include liaising with external auditors and advisors as needed.
- Maintain full accountability for all executed transaction documents for projects within the portfolio
- Ensure compliance with partnership agreements and distribution waterfalls.
- Assist capital markets with waivers, amendments, and refinancings for both tax equity and debt.
- Coordinate with internal legal, finance, capital markets, IPA, asset management and treasury teams to ensure consistency in management and reporting.
- Maintain accurate lender and tax equity records and organize deal folders.
- Collaborate with individual department as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
- Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.
- Maintain independent relationships with bank counterparts at admin agent, tax equity and other parties
