About the team:
The Multimedia Arch Frontend team is responsible for improving user experience and performance on TikTok, Including but not limited to data visualizations, web media player optimization with machine learning strategies, etc. We are a frontend and full-stack team that works at the intersection of product and engineering, data and performance optimization. Joining us, you will design, implement and make an impact on TikTok, the world's most downloaded app.

As a Frontend Software Engineer on our team, you will:
1. Work closely with our talented backend, product and data team to develop and ship new, innovative user experience and performance data virtualizations and optimization on Tiktok.
2. Build world-class frontends, with data virtualizations for big data, deep web tech stack, combine elegance, performance, reusibility and maintainability;
3. Optimize TikTok web app related performance by learning and leveraging word class video codec, transcode, and machine learning strategies.
4. Promote robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and deliver high-quality work in a rapid environment.
5. Responsible for the front-end research and development of Multimedia Arch.
6. Help our team grow from your expertise, experience, and perspectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related major;
2. 3+ years of industry experience in a software development environment;
3. Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript, ES5/6, CSS, and various layouts;
4. Experience in solving CSS/JS multi-browser compatibility problems and front-end performance optimization;
5. Understanding of component-based development ideas, familiarity with React, Angular, Vue.js, or any other equivalent library/framework;
6. Good team communication and collaboration skills.
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience on cross-platform development frameworks such as Flutter/React is a plus.
2. Understanding of back-end technologies and databases is a plus.
3. Experienced with data virtualization is a plus.
4. Understanding video codec, video quality optimization or web media player related is a plus.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
