STEM Alliance Internship – Resource Development & Sponsorship Research
STEM AllianceAbout the role
Description
The STEM Alliance is a dynamic nonprofit that succeeds not just because of what we do, STEM enrichment and digital equity programming, but because of how we do it: unbounded innovation, strategic partnerships, wide-scale advocacy, and quality programs!
The STEM Alliance offers a unique blend of hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects. We prioritize understanding, empathy, and diversity in our workplace culture. Our commitment to fostering personal and professional growth makes us an ideal place for students to explore careers in nonprofits, education, communications, and philanthropy.
We are seeking a student intern to support our Resource Development team as we expand outreach to corporate sponsors and grant funders for our flagship STEM events and digital equity initiatives. You’ll be part of a team that directly supports our mission to bridge systemic gaps in education, increase access to STEM resources, and build opportunity for all.
Timeframe
This internship is available on a rolling basis and can begin as soon as possible. It is designed as a year-round opportunity with flexibility to align with the intern’s academic schedule. Interns must be available for 8–10 in-person hours per week at our office in Mamaroneck, NY.
What you’ll be doing
This internship is ideal for students who are curious about nonprofit development, marketing, and strategic partnerships. Interns will work alongside the Resource Development team on tasks such as:
- Research and build lists of potential sponsors, corporate partners, and foundations aligned with our mission and events.
- Help identify funding leads for our annual events such as STEM-tastic, FLL/Robotics teams and Summer Enrichment programs.
- Use spreadsheets to track outreach, deadlines, and meeting follow-ups.
- Support the scheduling of meetings, email follow-up, and preparation of outreach materials.
- Join planning sessions to learn about real-time development strategy and event planning.
What we offer
An office in the heart of Mamaroneck, just steps from Metro-North, shopping, and our favorite local coffee shop
An open workspace (no cubicles!) with an engaged, mission-driven team
A welcoming and inclusive culture where your contributions matter
Are you excited? So are we!
Apply today to play an active role in changing our world for the better by supporting the next generation of STEM leaders and building equity through innovation.
And please note:
- Research shows that while men apply to jobs if they meet about 60% of the criteria, women and members of underrepresented groups often only apply if they meet every single requirement. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply – even if you’re not sure you meet every bullet point. We’d love to get to know you.
- People with disabilities are currently underrepresented in our organization and underserved in our community. We want to change that. We strongly encourage people with disabilities to apply and will support you fully in the workplace.
Requirements
First and foremost, we’re looking for someone who is friendly, curious, and values teamwork. You should be excited to learn how nonprofits operate and how fundraising supports social impact. We hope you are driven by purpose, enjoy research, and want to see how digital equity and STEM education are creating ladders of opportunity for underserved communities.
You might also:
- Have strong organization and attention-to-detail skills
- Be familiar with spreadsheets such as Google Sheets
- Be dependable and able to meet timelines
- Be interested in learning about sponsorships, fundraising, or nonprofit development
- Prefer a work environment where people enjoy collaborating
