Role Description
The Metrology CMM Technician based in Weirton, WV will perform a vital role as a hands-on quality team member at Form Energy. You will operate coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to inspect and verify dimensional and geometric characteristics of manufactured components. Create and modify CMM measurement programs using CAD models, engineering drawings, and metrology software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or MCOSMOS. Set up and calibrate CMM probes, fixtures, and precision measuring equipment to ensure accurate inspection results. Perform measurements, inspections, audits, and testing activities in support of product control plans and quality requirements, while accurately documenting results in the Quality Management System (QMS). Assist in identifying process variations, material discrepancies, and quality concerns, communicating findings to production and engineering teams as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on inspection methods, quality procedures, and metrology tools. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout inspection areas, the metrology laboratory, and the production floor while promoting adherence to all safety and quality standards.
What you'll do:
Write CMM programs using specialized software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, or MCOSMOS) from 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
Set up and calibrate CMM probes, fixtures, and standard metrology equipment before each run.
Operate CMM machines to measure precise dimensional and geometric characteristics of components.
Perform measurements, tests, inspections, and audits to support Product Control Plans and input results into our Quality Management System.
Provide feedback on quality procedures and tools to achieve continuous improvement.
Help maintain clean, organized inspection environments in our receiving area, metrology lab, and on the production floor.
Have an eye for quality and flag changes or concerning variations in processes and materials.
Be a champion for safety in all of their work.
What you'll bring:
3+ years experience in heavy manufacturing assembly or quality inspection
Experience using industry standard metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, microscopes, multimeters, CMMs, optical comparators
Experience using test equipment such as tensile testers, wire harness testers, ultrasonic testers, and physical property characterization equipment
Experience working and auditing to industry standards including ISO 9001 or equivalent, NADCAP, ASTM test standards, IPC 610/620/J-STD-001, etc.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing.
