Since 1992, we have helped countless individuals overcome mental health and substance use disorders, regardless of ability to pay or time of day. Operating call center services, mobile response, crisis and substance use residential units, and more, we work in partnership with other city providers to create new and innovative ways to serve Baltimore City and Maryland’s communities.

The Role

The primary goal of this position is to provide behavioral health crisis intervention, treatment and somatic care to clients. In this position, the nurse will demonstrate an ability to serve as a responsible member of the nursing team, interacting in an appropriate manner with clients, professional members and other support live personnel involved in the delivery of client care. To support this goal the following objectives/responsibilities must be achieved:

• Functions effectively as a member of the CRU and MCT
• Works in partnership with the MHCs, CRU, CRU Director, and Mobile Crisis Team Director
• Provides timely and effective evaluations of client’s behavioral health and somatic concerns.
• Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with residential staff, unit case managers and the CRU director regarding client care issues (i.e. falls, acting-out behaviors, somatic care issues, insurance issues…)
• Acts in a leadership role as the CRU charge nurse, ensuring professional boundaries are maintained.
• Establishes a high value and supportive work environment.
• provides appropriate crisis intervention, supportive counseling and de-escalation of clients when necessary.
• Acts rapidly and efficiently during an emergency medical situation, managing clients and other team members as needed.
• Maintains correct control substance count.
• Orders client medications for dispensing on the unit and at discharge.
• Follow up with request made by the Director of Nursing and physicians.
• Orders unit stock medication
• Destruction of control substance by use of DETROYER method and witnessed by a second nurse; Destroy client’s medications that have been left pass 30 days.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to provide a full range of nursing care to clients with a variety of withdrawal symptoms, other somatic issues and behavioral health problems.  
• Provides timely evaluations of clients’ symptoms, behavioral health, and somatic concerns.
• Follow up on client’s insurance and location of client’s medication.
