EVgo’s Strategy and Analytics team seeks a Senior Analyst, Energy Procurement to drive critical analytics supporting one of the company’s largest cost centers—electricity. This role will influence procurement strategy in wholesale markets (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, PJM) and shape solutions around wholesale energy contracting, rate strategy, and demand charge management. You’ll lead evaluations of energy procurement structures—including block energy purchases, virtual PPAs, index + adder contracts, and retail access programs—to reduce volatility and align with long-term growth. This includes contributing to hedge design, contract term optimization, and analysis of fixed vs. floating pricing exposure. You'll work in Python, SQL, and Excel to build scalable models and tools that accelerate insight across our rapidly expanding EV charging network. Responsibilities

- Wholesale Market Risk and Participation Analysis Analyze procurement opportunities across deregulated markets; evaluate block contracts, indexed pricing, and structured hedge solutions. Quantify financial exposure and value-at-risk across usage and market scenarios.
- Contract Structuring Partner with legal and finance to develop economic models and term sheets for bilateral and retail supply contracts. Assess deal structures (e.g., load-following, block + index, heat rate-linked) and support go-to-market decisions.
- Demand Charge Management Analyze and quantify near-term and long-term value at stake embedded within diverse retail rate structures. Work with cross-functional teams to investigate the efficacy of participating in demand response, dynamic/real-time pricing, and similar utility programs.
- Reporting and Analysis Develop and maintain reporting tools across electric cost areas. Collaborate with internal teams to streamline analytics, improve data pipelines, and enhance decision-making support.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant energy experience—ideally involving power procurement, C&I utility rates, or wholesale market participation.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel for data analysis and modeling.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills, with a proven ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Collaborative mindset and experience working across teams.
- Experience evaluating wholesale energy contracts (e.g., PPAs, VPPAs, structured hedges) in ISO/RTO markets.
- Familiarity with forward curves, capacity markets, and ISO settlements (e.g., LMPs, congestion, ancillary services).
- Knowledge of utility demand response, real-time pricing, and dynamic rate programs.
- Proficiency with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Streamlit).
- Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake) and energy procurement analytics.
