 This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week. 

Are you a cloud engineer looking to expand your skills into cloud security or multi-cloud engineering? Nationwide’s Cloud Security Engineering team is seeking a hands-on technologist who enjoys learning, building, and solving complex problems across cloud platforms. If you have experience with any major cloud technology (Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, etc.) and want to grow your expertise in security engineering, automation, and multi-cloud policy implementation and enforcement, this role offers that opportunity. 

You’ll work primarily with Microsoft Azure while also gaining exposure to Amazon Web Services. This is a collaborative role defining, implementing, and maturing cloud controls to defend against current as well as emerging threats. 

 

As a contributing member of the Cloud Security Engineering team, you will: 

 

  • Promote DevSecOps culture including training / outreach to application development teams with special focus on security controls (IAM, security compliance). 

  • Design, build, and/or deploy tools and reports that provide visibility into cloud accounts, instances, and services 

  • Implement infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD automation to standardize and scale cloud security team deployments 

  • Stay current on cloud security vulnerabilities, policies, standards, regulations to ensure cloud environments are managing risk appropriately  

  • Continuously work with business partners on vulnerability remediation strategies  

  • Partner with security teams to enhance cloud security solutions and establish preventative controls to support security needs via automation 

  • Partner with security teams to ensure migrated workloads maintain compliance and governance requirements  

  • Collaborate with Information Risk Management to ensure all cloud products / services are meeting configuration and compliance standards 

  • Implement and support data protection and encryption strategies for cloud services, products, and data  

  • Implement and support best practice requirements for logging and monitoring 

  • Troubleshoot and respond to cloud security incidents and assist with resolutions  

 

Required Skills:  

  • Handson experience with any major cloud platform (Azure preferred; AWS, GCP, or OCI are a plus). 

  • Experience engineering or operating cloud tools, platforms, or automation solutions.
