Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is pleased to announce an opening for a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) for the Forensic Treatment Program at the Elgin Mental Health Center. The Elgin Mental Health Center is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented licensed Registered Nurse to direct and oversee para-professional and non-professional nursing personnel, assuring that general health and nursing care needs are met for our patients. Elgin Mental Health Center strives to provide equitable access to social/human services, supports, programs and resources to enhance the lives of all who we serve.

Essential Functions

• Serves as the Clinical Nurse Manager for a major treatment program and in conformance with established professional nursing practices and standards, serves in an administrative capacity to all professional, para-professional and non-professional nursing personnel.

• Directs nursing staff regarding identification of patient needs.

• Serves as full-line supervisor.

• Periodically reviews by observation and required documentation, the accurate and timely completion of work assignments including therapeutic environment aspects of the nursing process including assessments, care plans, treatment plans, interventions and documentation in progress notes (reviews are completed periodically and on a random basis).

• Assumes the administrative duties of the Associate Director of Nursing in his/her absence.

• Monitors that the nursing and the unit’s Quality Improvement Plans are utilized to evaluate patient care.

• Participates in, reviews, and encourages the development of professional growth of assigned nursing personnel.

• Participates, as part of Nursing Administration, in determining overall staffing needs.

• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.

• Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.
