About the Tax Team

The Proofpoint Tax Department is responsible for the assessment and review of the Company’s transactions as it relates to all forms of tax compliance as well as accounting for income taxes under US GAAP.  We are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst in managing the Company’s daily tax operations.

The Senior Tax Analyst will be involved in projects as needed.  The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing and driving projects through to completion, driving efficient and scalable processes for a growing company, and who is looking for a challenging yet rewarding role in a rapid growth environment.

Your day-to-day

• Manage the preparation of monthly sales and indirect tax processes.
• Collaborate with third-party consultants to ensure accurate and timely filing of monthly sales and use tax returns.
• Assist in the completion of various tax related filings, including business property tax, gross receipts filings, annual reports, business tax licenses, VAT, and GST filings.
• Provide support during audits.
• Gain comprehensive understanding of Proofpoint products and monitor transactions to identify potential areas of tax risk or opportunity.
• Prepare journal entries and perform monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, analyzing fluctuations for assigned accounts to identify unusual trends or activity.
• Provide support in the completion of quarterly income tax provisions and income tax compliance, as needed.
• Support special projects and initiatives (e.g. refund opportunities, census, and due diligence on potential acquisitions) as assigned​.

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• CPA license preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in indirect tax compliance in either a corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
• Experienced with sales and use tax, VAT, GST, or other indirect taxes is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of indirect tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions.
• Experience working in corporate multinational companies.
• Experience in corporate income tax compliance and accounting is a plus.
• Experience with SaaS.
• Strong proficiency in excel.
• Familiarity with tax research software.
• Meticulous, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Self-motived and driven.
• Able to adapt to time constraints and meet deadlines effectively.
