About the job
The SAS9 Base SAS team within R&D is looking for a SDET to work with development to write and maintain test code reflecting real customer use cases. You’ll join a team who value collaboration, open communication, thoughtful automation, and continuous improvement. We work closely with global colleagues, bringing together diverse perspectives to solve complex problems and deliver high-impact software. In this role, you will also automate regression testing using tools like Jenkins. In addition, you will continuously analyze and enhance test coverage.
As a SDET, you will:
- Create and maintain high quality test automation using modern development techniques and provide key data points to support metrics-based decision making.
- Apply automated tests at every layer of the application stack.
- Produce and analyze metrics that illustrate the quality of applications and develop insight that drives the direction of quality engineering.
- Work with team to promptly triage test failures with precision and accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline.
- Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and support peers to encourage quality, as a key design element in all work efforts.
- Engage in code reviews for product, test, and infrastructure code.
- Protect users from escaped defects, participate in support escalations, and value Customer Experience (CX) above all.
- Understand the role of development, migration, security, and performance in the delivery lifecycle.
- Understand applications at the architectural level, identifying key areas of risk and weakness.
- Utilize observability and monitoring tools to proactively detect and remediate failures.
- Deploy and support high value test environments where needed.
- Partner with Development to design and execute effective testing strategies.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve automated test frameworks, tools, and scripts that address specific needs using tools such as Jenkins.
- Maintain test suites in a version-controlled environment.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience writing and automating regression testing for backend software applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related quantitative field.
- 2+ years' experience in backend testing
- Advanced proficiency of at least one and familiarity with multiple programming languages such as C, C#, C++, Groovy and SAS with C and/or SAS coding experience.
- Advanced Proficiency in Python and familiarity with multiple scripting languages such as Perl or Bash.
- Fluent in state-of-the-art techniques, standards, and procedures for software test development.
- Expert in Jenkins test automation framework demonstrating the ability to create shareable code.
- Proficient with source control management techniques including branching, code review, and merging within Git/Gerrit.
- Familiarity with platform configuration, integration, and secret management.
- Ability to pivot quickly and seamlessly toward areas of need.
- Conceptual understanding of at least one markup language like XML.
- Strong knowledge of Unix and Windows environments, MVS experience a plus.
