Electrical Project Designer or Engineer

The Electrical Project Designer or Engineer is a mid-level role focused on developing electrical drawings and designs. This individual works independently under the direction of an Electrical Lead Designer or Lead Engineer and plays a key role in accurately sizing and laying out lighting, power, and low voltage systems. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality, efficient designs, performing construction administration tasks, and collaborating with other design professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Size and lay out lighting, power, and low voltage systems, including communications, fire alarms, and security systems.
• Perform energy calculations, light modeling software tasks, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations.
• Prepare high-quality drawings, specifications, and design narratives.
• Independently conduct site visits and review shop drawings for accuracy.
• Select light fixtures in collaboration with architectural and interior design teams.
• Select motor controls and circuit mechanical equipment, understanding necessary components like starters.
• Manage personal task estimates and contribute to coordination meetings.
• Coordinate utilities and size services as part of design implementation.
• Review and follow company drafting standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
• Mentor and support junior staff, sharing knowledge and expertise.

• Maintain high efficiency in drafting and complete construction documents with accuracy.
• Maintain strong communication with staff and other design professionals, setting a high standard for project collaboration.

• Continuously seek to enhance design skills, building towards full independence.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Design or Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant electrical design experience, including internships, academic coursework, or commercial work experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• For Project Engineer: Successful completion of the PE Exam.

Compensation: Salary range: $74,000 to $93,000, determined through a fair review of education and experience.
