Job Description
Chromalloy is looking for a Senior Materials Engineer to be an integral part of the Engineering department at the San Diego Site. The incumbent will evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
The essential functions of this position are:
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Supports manufacturing issues real-time.
- Participate / support in the evaluation and qualification of materials, suppliers, equipment, new technology and processes to ensure that conformance and product reliability requirements are met.
- Apply knowledge of Materials Science and Engineering in order to develop, characterize, and qualify materials for application to advanced repairs.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined integrated team, working alongside other skilled technicians, engineers, and support staff
Position is located in San Diego, CA (local candidate desired).

Qualifications
If you have a bachelor's degree in Engineering along with 5 years experience in a fast paced, collaborative Materials Engineer role, joining Chromalloy is a great career move. In addition to your education & experience, as a team player you will also have the following skills:
- Experience with Materials Science and Engineering
- Experience in generating test plans, identifying failures, determining root cause, and documenting results and recommendations
- Proven Successes utilizing CI tools; lean manufacturing and/or six sigma
- Program Management skills are highly preferred

Hiring range: $104,00-$136,300
