Opportunity
PeopleTec is currently seeking an Automotive Technician to support our Haines City, FL location.
Automotive Maintenance Technician will perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Assists higher graded mechanics in the repair and/or overhaul of major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Make routine repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components. Perform work in accordance with technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations, or management policies. Performed limited diagnosis to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, and pressure gauges. Determine when parts should be cleaned, adjusted, or replaced with standard parts to complete work orders.
Duties:
- Support the FLARNG Haines City, Florida FMS Shop Chief in performing automotive services on a variety of Army motor vehicles.
- Annotate all service support work on proper service documents.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services according to Army technical manuals.
- Complete maintenance and repair documentation.
- Track parts usage and maintenance history.
- Use Army maintenance management systems and work orders.
- Change oil, filters, fluids, belts, and hoses.
- Lubricate moving parts and inspect components for wear.
- Conduct safety inspections and operational checks.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.
- Use diagnostic computers, scan tools, multimeters, and testing equipment.
- Identify causes of vehicle malfunctions and recommend repairs.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and driveline components.
- Service diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles.
- Repair electrical systems, batteries, alternators, starters, and wiring.
- Perform welding and fabrication when required.
- Follow Army technical manuals and maintenance standards.
- Adhere to environmental and hazardous-material handling procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area. Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
- Must have at least 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs.
- Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories.
- Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments.
- Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.
- Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Experience using hand and power tools to replace and repair parts.
- High school diploma or GED, ASE certification and more than 3 years of experience as a Service Technician or Automotive Technician. An understanding of and ability to use diagnostic equipment.
- Possess basic experience in performing routine auto maintenance tasks.
- This job will require you to travel to different locations - 10% travel or less
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, ASE certification and more than 3 years of experience as a Service Technician or Automotive Technician. An understanding of and ability to use diagnostic equipment
