Keene State College invites applications for a faculty position in the Construction Management Program beginning August 2025. Keene State College's Construction Management Program, part of the Department of Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences (SOHAS), combines the expertise of the SOHAS, Business Management, and Architecture programs for the position of Assistant Professor in Construction Management. Launched in Fall 2020, it quickly became the college's fastest-growing program, expanding from 3 students in 2020 to nearly 90 today. The program focuses on the development of professional knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving as these elements relate to Keene State College's college-wide learning outcomes.
This role involves teaching undergraduate and potential graduate courses in various formats, including classroom, laboratory, and online. Key responsibilities include curriculum development, laboratory management, student advisement, and college service. Candidates are expected to engage in scholarly activities, maintain professional development, and participate in service activities for the program, department, and college. Candidates should have a commitment to mentoring a diverse student body, including first-generation college students. Promoting critical thinking, problem solving, and civic engagement is essential. Salary is based on the prevailing Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, according to which the rank minimum for an Assistant Professor is $75,230 for Academic Year 2024-2025. Subject to change with anticipated Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
Duties/Responsibilities
Teaching (60%)
This category reflects the primary responsibility of educating students in construction management, divided into preparation and delivery components.
Course Development (20%): Design and update syllabi, assignments, and hands-on activities for three courses per semester (six per year), integrating construction safety, project management, and industry standards.
Actual Teaching Time (40%): Deliver lectures, labs, and demonstrations, engaging students in practical and theoretical aspects of construction management, while providing feedback through office hours and grading.
Scholarship (20%)
Focuses on advancing construction management knowledge and professional expertise.
Conduct research or applied projects in areas like construction safety or sustainable practices.
Publish or present findings to enhance departmental visibility.
Pursue certifications or industry partnerships for professional growth.
