Job Description

Start here. Grow here.

AECOM currently has a requirement for a Project Electrical (Lighting) Engineer to join our growing Specialist Lighting division in Dublin. We continue to successfully win significant projects, where we have the opportunity to deliver innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

Our success is built on the quality of our people, and we are looking for a first-class electrical engineer, with specialist lighting design experience, to fill this role.

We bring projects to life in cities and communities, and we are driven by a set of values and a common purpose - to create, enhance and sustain the world’s built, natural and social environments. Innovation is built into every project that we manage and every community that we serve. We will provide you support in an environment that allows you to grow and succeed. At AECOM Lighting, we provide comprehensive, independent lighting design services on a broad range of projects worldwide. We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious and creative graduate to work alongside experienced lighting designers, engineers and architects. The position is in our Dublin office, though we will also consider applicants wishing to work within our Galway or Cork offices.

If you have a passion for lighting and electrical engineering design, work well within a team, are committed to continuous learning and development, we would like to hear from you.

What you’ll do!

AECOM is a place where you can put your innovative thinking and business skills into high gear and work alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people. It is a place where you can apply your skills to some of the world's most challenging, interesting and meaningful projects worldwide.

Examples of the projects the Lighting team are involved in include:

  • Serpentine Gallery, London. Design and delivery of technical and feature lighting for a temporary feature pavilion in Kensington Gardens which hosts feature architecture / artist installation and lighting design annually within Hyde Park. Internal and external space lighting was designed with cooperation from featured artists / architects including: Sou Fujimoto (2013), Smiljan Radic (2014), Selgas Cano Architects (2015), BIG (2016), Francis Kere (2017), Frida Escobedo (2018) and Junya Ishigami (2019). Each gallery requires close collaboration with the artist, contractor and multi-discipline teams to deliver the full pavilion experience to visitors.
  • Parnell Cultural Quarter, Dublin. Design and delivery of technical and feature lighting for all architectural lighting areas.
  • Dubai Expo 2020, Dubai. Design of thematic futuristic public realm lighting to reinforce the Dubai Expo 2020 theme of ‘connecting minds creating the future’. The 400 acre site includes three thematic precincts including Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunity. This project involves interfacing with the client and contractor teams, contribution to assessing the cost and programme implications of our proposals, in addition to constructability and coordination with other project disciplines.
  • Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. Outline Lighting masterplan for the site and detailed lighting masterplan for phased developments within the masterplan as they come forward. Key aspects of the lighting design are integration and expression of sustainability, a core value of the project, combined with sensitive place making and activation of the pedestrian public realm, including the Central Park. Public realm development involved collaboration within a multi-discipline services team, including BIM.
