Manager, Business Development - Walmart Connect

Position Summary...

The Manager, Business Development and Strategy Generalist will join Walmart Connects (WMC) in-house Strategy team to help identify, evaluate, and accelerate new revenue opportunities through partnerships and support long term strategy definition projects. The WMC Strategy team is envisioning the future of WMC and its important role within Walmart.

In this role, you will help formulate the future of retail advertising by evaluating new strategies and businesses to grow WMC, including partnerships. You have 2-3+ years of investment banking, consulting, and/or corporate strategy experience (partnership experience preferred, business development a plus) within the technology, retail, media or advertising industry and have a deep capacity for juggling multiple high-profile projects. We will need your industry curiosity and understanding, strategic mindset, and analytical skills to support the definition and evaluation of opportunities to grow WMC. This role entails sizing market potential and evaluating competitors and other industry participants, while creating actionable recommendations for WMC leadership and Walmart executives. Critical thinking, resourcefulness and strong attention to detail are required skill sets. Experience supporting the creation of leadership materials is a must.

What you'll do...

• Evaluate new strategies and opportunities for WMC including market opportunity sizing, competitive evaluation, and business case building while supporting in strategy definition and execution enablers that reinforce WMC strategies
• Identify possible strategic partnerships to accelerate strategies, including competitive landscaping, capability benchmarking, and cross-functional build/buy/partner analyses
• Work collaboratively across the organization to solicit and synthesize cross functional feedback
• Play a pivotal role in support of partnership process evaluation, execution, and testing coordination, research, diligence, driver-led financial modeling, leadership narratives, internal ; external communications, proof of concept testing program management
• Support long term strategy definition projects with financial analysis, competitive research, and writing whitepapers

Walmart fosters an in-person culture. The associate hired for this role would need to allocate most of their work week to our Hoboken, NJ or San Bruno, CA office. What you'll bring:

• Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or related field and 2 years experience in business development, market development, product development, or related area OR 4 years experience in business development, market development, product development, or related area.
• 2-3+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, and/or corporate strategy with a focus on partnership or business development in technology, retail, media or advertising, with an always on attitude towards gaining more knowledge and leadership in these areas
• Resourcefulness in research, data collection and analysis to support strategies
• Strong financial modeling skills
• Strong presentation, communication and influencing skills and comfort in interacting with executive level business and partners, along with other cross-functional partners
• Comfort with ambiguity and experience with scoping new ideas or innovation
• Intellectually curious, high energy, and strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple high-visibility projects at one time
