About the role:
This person will support Product Development Engineering for Endoscopy R&D at Boston Scientific in Marlborough MA, with a focus on imaging development and image quality assessment. This imaging systems engineering role improves products, materials, processes, or equipment and solves problems of moderate complexity. Under limited supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes, and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products.
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Participate in and successfully contribute to project teams typically including the following activities: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), report preparation, and process/test documentation
- Work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines
- Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments
- Design, procure, and fabricate tooling and fixtures
- Perform troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process
- Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results independently
- Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community
- Responsible for engineering documentation
- May train and/or provide work direction to other engineers and technicians
- Must be able to attend and participate in technical meetings during the evening hours
- Work cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success
- Communicate proactively
Required qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Physics, or closely related field with 6+ years of R&D experience relevant to this role; or MS in Engineering, Physics, or closely related field with 4+ years of R&D experience relevant to this role
- 10-20% global travel
- Product Life Cycle system knowledge through delivery of high-quality deliverables
- Knowledge of Matlab or other programming language
Preferred qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or closely related field
- Hands-on knowledge of image processing, image quality assessment, and optics
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Experience with Imatest, iQ Analyzer, Zemax, or similar
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with developing Medical Imaging Products – able to apply product life-cycle development process independently
- Experience in Systems Engineering
