Job Summary:

 

The primary purpose of the Dietary Lead is to assist in the planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with the current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Food services Manager, Clinical Dietitian and/or Dietary Director, to assure that quality food service is provided to patients, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

1.     Follow directions and performs work according to departmental standards.

2.     Manages staff in the absence of Dietary Director, Clinical Dietitian and/or Dietary Manager.

3.     Completes patient meal count, meal tally’s, quality control, sanitation rounds and ensures foods are delivered to patients, visitors and employees in a safe manner.

4.     Ensures that stock is delivered and charged out correctly for all areas of the facility.

5.     Ensures that stock deliveries are complete and are of quality, time, and temperature and stored in proper location.

6.     Ensures that diets are entered correctly into the food ordering system.

7.     Demonstrates through actions, proper cooking, prepping, storage and serving of all foods.

8.     Demonstrates through actions, proper usage and cleaning of all equipment within Dietary Department.

9.     Flexible schedule to work all shifts when needed.

10.  Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience required: Three years food experience in a healthcare setting.  Managerial experience is preferred but not required.

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Reading, writing and communicable skills are a must.
