Job Description:

The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) seeks an innovative licensed mental health professional for an embedded position to provide psychological services to assist domestic and international students in the Division of Student Life’s Office of Community & Belonging.  This position is a TEAMS position with the CWC, housed full-time in the Office of Community & Belonging.  Position duties include individual and group counseling, outreach and consultation to students, staff, faculty, administrators, as it relates to health and well-being services provided within the Office of Community & Belonging.  The individual in this position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating health & wellbeing services for university students.  In addition, all counselors within the CWC may provide professional training to graduate students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows in their areas of expertise.     

 

We are seeking a mental health professional with experience in collegiate mental health who thrives in an environment that values collaboration and support among team members and will work with us to foster the development of all students through compassionate and high quality care as well as help us nurture a healthy and healing campus environment for all. Potential colleagues should have experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns and levels of severity. Similarly, the Embedded Counselor is responsible for developing and conducting outreach and preventive efforts. The Embedded Counselor is also expected to participate in the center’s model of shared governance through the coordination of specific initiatives, membership or chairing of committees or task forces.

 

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: assessment/psychological testing, neurodivergence, alcohol & other drug use, trauma, disordered eating concerns, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, and/or psychotherapy and outreach with students from a range of backgrounds.

 

The CWC provides:

• Group, individual, and couples counseling for students with psychological, emotional, academic and/or relationship concerns
• Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or emergency
• Stress management and biofeedback services
• Outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff
• Consultation services for students, faculty, staff, families, and friends of students
• Training and supervision to counseling, psychology, and graduate students from pre-practicum through post-doctoral residency
• Assessment and referral services
• Teaching, research, and scholarship

 

 

Expected Salary:

$72,000 -$77,00 - salary commensurate to qualifications and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Professionals with one of the following credentials: 1) Social worker with a master’s degree or a Ph.D. in social work from a Certified Social Work Education-accredited school of social work; 2) Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling; 3) counselors with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology or counseling from an APA or CACREP accredited doctoral program. All applicants must be licensed as a mental health professional or psychologist in the state of Florida. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with college students and staff
• Experience working in settings with more severe mental health concerns
• Administrative and computer application skills required to effectively implement and maintain a case management and tracking system
• Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team
• Energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships
• Collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards colleagues
• Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to providing appropriate, effective care for individuals with varied backgrounds
• Self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, standards and ethics
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience in college mental health, including crisis assessment/management/intervention, short-term treatment, confidentiality requirements, outreach, consultation and referral
• Strong interest and experience with training and supervising students from various disciplines at a master’s, doctoral, or postdoctoral level
