We are currently seeking one highly qualified candidate for a Harvest Enology Intern to join our team at Col Solare Winery in Benton City, Washington. This person will have learning opportunities and practical training through hands-on participation related to Enology, which promote professional development with a commitment to pursue excellence.
Col Solare is the partnership between two influential wine producers: Tuscany’s Marchesi Antinori and Washington State’s Ste Michelle Wine Estates. Located at the top of Red Mountain in Eastern Washington, we specialize in ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon from the region.
Duration of Internship: August 2024 – November 2024
In this internship, you will:
- Work with a small team to produce ultra-premium wine on Red Mountain.
- Monitor fermentations daily by checking brix and temperature.
- Assist in all harvest cellar activities including grape evaluation, sorting, cap management, chemical additions, pressing, and lots of cleaning/sanitizing.
- Maintain the highest level of sanitation in production work areas
- Conduct lab analysis during harvest using basic wet chemistry and enzymatic analysis for juice, must, and wine.
- Assist with berry sampling as needed to help determine picking dates.
- Assist with wine tracking using Vintrace Software as needed
- Taste fermentations with winemaking team periodically to understand different fermentation management techniques and identify wine faults.

- Enology and Viticulture
Working Environment:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to work in cold and wet conditions
- Must be able to bend, squat, and stand for long periods
- Must be able to climb stairs, catwalk, and ladders
- May be required to work in confined space
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Completed degree or currently enrolled in an Undergraduate degree in Enology or other related field that requires significant levels of critical/analytical thinking
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must be available in the Summer/Fall months for harvest
- Must be available to work at least 60 hours per week during the peak of the season
- High work capacity and ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to work with all types of personalities across different work functions within Ste. Michelle Wine Estates
- Project and time management skills
- Proficient with MS Office based tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to carry out direction both verbally and/or in written form
- Ability to work autonomously
- History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies
Your Compensation:
$20.68-26.88/hr. based on upon relevant experience.
