Job Duties

Seeking a Pharmacy Technician responsible for accurately filling medication and discharge prescription orders, preparing medication carts, maintaining automated dispensing machines, and supporting medication inventory and controlled substance management. Duties include delivering medications to units, processing pharmacy billing and reimbursement claims (including Medicare Part D), conducting monthly medication storage inspections, troubleshooting dispensing equipment, maintaining accurate records and reports, and assisting with departmental operations such as unit dosing, bulk orders, inventory maintenance, and technician coverage as needed. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment are essential.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Virginia Pharmacy Technician registration required, or eligibility to obtain trainee registration upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA) and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work (attach Competency Model, if applicable):

Keyboarding skills; Interpersonal skills; Basic knowledge of pharmacy law, rules and regulations; Accuracy in reading physician orders and entering orders into the computer

Additional Considerations

Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
