Job Summary

Performs routine network architecture assignments under general direction.  Assists with planning, researching, evaluating, designing, and developing network systems.

Job Description

What you’ll do:

• Execute straightforward architectural assignments with moderate supervision.
• Apply knowledge to support the planning, research, evaluation, design, and development of 800 MHz wireless radio systems and related telecommunications site activities.
• Participate in the configuration, installation, and performance analysis of these systems.

• Participates in design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems. Follows policies, practices, procedures, standards, and company rules relative to assignments. Complies with regulations and procedures required by external agencies.
• Prepares cost estimates for engineering assignments using established guidelines.
• Performs documentation of project work using established guidelines; Performs network assignments.
• Analyze network performance, troubleshoot when necessary, and provide resolutions to technical problems.
• Follow standard workflow for engineering projects; apply economic analysis techniques and adhere to budgeting and approval processes in project development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.
• Learn AEP's organizational structure and the specific role and responsibility of one's organizational unit.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study
• Or Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience
• Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Experience:

• Two (2) years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.

Licenses/Certifications: 

• Valid Driver's License is Required.

Telecom Consultant Associate SG6

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study
• Or Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience
• Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Experience:

• No additional experience, other than what is listed above, is required.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid Driver's License is Required.

Telecom Consultant SG7

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study
• Or Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience
• Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Experience:

• Two (2) years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.

Licenses/Certifications: 

• Valid Driver's License is Required.

Telecom Consultant Senior SG8

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications,
• Or related field of study or Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience
• Or HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Experience:

• Five (5) years of relevant work experience in addition to any experience mentioned above.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid Driver's License Required. 

In addition:

• Candidates should have backgrounds in telecommunications engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, or electrical engineering, preferably related to telecom site and tower activities.
• While experience in IP networking is valued, candidates with only IP networking skills will not be considered.
