Job Description

As a Senior IT Engineer at OpenBet you will be working within the IT team and closely with other business units; you will be a strong communicator with the ability to quickly understand the needs of the business, to ensure the infrastructure is underpinned with the best technologies and processes.

As part of a series of acquisitions and mergers you will have the opportunity to play a key role in a significant number of ongoing integration projects coupled with a balance of BAU work; here are some of the essential elements of your role:

• Assist with the installation of new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches.
• Develop scripts or tools for automating administrative tasks.
• Provide weekly status reports of work-related activities.
• Interact with users as a second level of escalation to the service desk.
• Identify procedures that can be enhanced for increased efficiency.
• Perform proactive system monitoring, resolve incidents and changes.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation.
• Administration of Windows server platforms & Linux server platforms – Ubuntu, Red Hat based.
• Configuration management platforms and deployment tooling
• Optimization of VMware/NetApp Infrastructure, Amazon Web Services platfor, development tooling and continuous integration platforms

Qualifications

If you are the right candidate for us you will be able to demonstrate: 

• A university degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or similar relevant degree
• Linux System Administration experience in a large-scale environment.
• Strong Windows Server skills, including installation, systems administration and troubleshooting.
• Solid knowledge of networking including topology and protocol understanding
• Good understanding and knowledge of networking concepts (Firewalling, Switching, VLANs, VPN, TCP/IP).
• Excellent understanding of server architecture design techniques, principles & practice.
• Experience in writing technical documentation
• Demonstrable experience in the following areas:
  • Data Center environments
  • Servers Hardware (Dell PowerEdge) and Architecture
  • Storage Arrays (NetApp) and SAN (iSCSI, FC)
  • VMware vSphere administration
  • Enterprise backup platforms (Veeam)

It would also be great to see these skills/experiences as well:

• Experience in IT projects related to large company acquisitions/mergers.
• Professional Certifications.
