About the role

Turn data into impact — build systems that shape work and the world.

As a senior data engineer/architect at Gallup, you’ll help lead the design, architecture and continual buildout of Gallup’s data platform. You will develop and manage a repeatable data cleaning, merging and pipelining strategy that will feed products across the enterprise. Through discovery, experimentation and implementation, you will collaborate with engineering, product and design leaders to build a future that accelerates and delights Gallup’s clients and associates through data.

What makes you stand out:

  • Big-picture thinking: Your ability to envision and design scalable data platforms — developing and evolving large-scale data infrastructure while balancing flexibility with security, performance and compliance
  • Data pipeline mastery: Your expertise in developing and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows that clean, merge and transform data for high-performance analytics and machine learning applications
  • Cloud-based efficiency: Your experience using cloud ecosystems, including AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda) and Snowflake, to store, process and expose data efficiently across internal and external products
  • AI/ML enablement: Your proven track record of constructing feature stores, ML pipelines and data workflows that accelerate machine learning adoption and AI-driven insights
  • Enterprise-grade data governance: Your experience ensuring data security, segregation and compliance while maintaining accessibility and self-service capabilities for internal teams and external clients

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with technology leadership peers to meet business and technology visions and goals
  • Build and maintain a modern, secure and robust data platform that empowers product and business teams to discover and use high-quality data with minimal friction
  • Guide technical direction for the data platform — preventing obsolescence and delivering innovative solutions for current and prospective customers, both internally and externally
  • Establish the architectural direction while coding, problem-solving and mentoring data engineers
  • Lead collaboration among engineering, product and design teams to translate business goals into scalable data solutions
  • Maintain cutting-edge technical expertise and build a culture of learning among data engineers

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related area required
  • At least five years of experience working with big data architecture and building and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows required
  • At least five years of experience in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) required
  • At least three years of experience in AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda) or equivalent cloud system required
  • At least three years of Python experience required
  • At least three years of corporate experience designing and building production-level data pipelines and management systems required
  • At least one year of experience in Snowflake or similar cloud-based storage required
  • Knowledge of open-source statistical programming language (e.g., R, Stan) a plus
  • Experience with machine learning pipelines and feature stores a plus
  • Availability to work on-site at Gallup’s Omaha office at least three days a week required

What we offer:

  • A strengths-based, engagement-focused and performance-oriented culture
  • The creative and innovative feel of a startup with the stability and credibility of a well-established brand
  • The opportunity to work in a flexible and hybrid environment that allows you to work remotely two days per week
  • A diverse and inclusive workplace that is committed to fostering belonging and wellbeing
  • A collaborative work environment with world-class managers and highly tenured mentors who guide and empower associates based on their unique skills and strengths
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including working with the latest technology in an Agile framework
  • Mission-driven work that changes the lives of people around the world
  • An on-site cafeteria, fitness center, federal credit union and state-of-the-art child development center, all on a beautiful downtown Omaha campus along the Missouri River
