Research Technical Staff, Mechanical EngineeringThe Opportunity
Perform research and development on solid-oxide fuel cells, electrolyzers, and membrane reactors for energy- and chemical-conversion applications.
Responsibilities
Execute physical experiments on electrochemical performance of solid-oxide fuel cells, electrolyzers, and membrane reactors
Harness experimental research tools to characterize device performance, behavior, and characteristics, including conventional AC and DC potentiostats, gas chromatography, and unique electrochemical test stands
Present results to external funding agents through written reports and presentations
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Background in solid-oxide fuel cells and electrolyzers in the laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating high-temperature reacting flow systems
Knowledge of electrochemistry and catalysis with testing experience in both.
SolidWorks drawing capabilities but no certification required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good analytical skills for high-temperature catalytic reactors and solid oxide fuel cells.
Physical Requirements:
Comfort in laboratory-based environment
No demanding physical activities required
Potential Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
Laboratory environment includes safe handling of delicate fuel cells and electrolyzers, careful operation of complex electrochemical test stands, and utilization of gas cylinders pressurized up to 3,000 psi. employee will be trained through established Mines safety procedures provided and tracked by Mines of Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
Total Rewards
Salary Rate: $65,000 annually
