Ramboll is seeking a Climate Adaptation Planner in our Northeast region, preferably in our New York City office. The ideal candidate has approximately 5+ years of experience in urban planning, and climate adaptation and resilience, with experience in the following areas: coastal flooding, cloudburst planning, Blue-Green Infrastructure and nature-based solutions, community engagement, and ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite software skills.

You will join our Climate Adaptation team
In joining our team, you will be part of an internationally leading company within the area of climate resilience with professionals working in a collaborative environment in the areas of Climate Resilience and Cloudburst Planning; Flood Reduction and Risk Mitigation, including use of Blue-Green- infrastructure (BGI) and Nature-Based-Solutions; Watershed Management Plans; Sustainability and Integrated Infrastructure Planning.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Lead the development of climate resilience plans, integrated infrastructure plans, low-impact development, etc. in close collaboration with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Create and implement Community Engagement Plans, including stakeholder outreach, facilitation at public meetings, and creating graphics and workshop materials.
- Work closely with ecological and engineering design personnel to ensure planning services are complementary and integrated with overall elements of a project.
- Prepare reports, including technical writing and preparing maps, diagrams, and other graphics, to convey technical ideas to a public audience

- Masters Degree in an Environmental, Planning, Sustainability, or Engineering field (BA or BS will be considered)
- Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated climate adaptation and resilience planning experience
- Demonstrated experience in Climate Risk mapping and Climate Justice concepts
- Experience with local, state, and federal environmental permitting programs and stormwater and floodplain regulations
- Experience with conceptual and preliminary design of flood protection measures, stormwater management, and/or coastal protection
Preferred Skills
We encourage candidates to apply who are able to demonstrate expertise in these areas:
- ArcGIS Pro
- Use of graphics software, such as Adobe Creative Suite
- Landscape architecture or urban design
- Stormwater management
- Climate risk assessment
- Financial analysis, including benefit-cost analysis
- Environmental planning and permitting
- Community engagement
Preferred Certifications
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); if not certified, a commitment to taking the exam and becoming certified
- Additional certifications, such as Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) or Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) are a plus
Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively across diverse planning and engineering project teams, and ability to work independently in applying practical knowledge in the resiliency planning area.
