- Minimum of two (2) years' experience stowing vessels with containerized and break-bulk cargoes.
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
- Basic knowledge of utilizing two-way handheld radio.
- Proficiency in English reading and writing at a basic level in a business environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Assertive individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others and participate as a team player when needed.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and display strong initiative.
- Willingness to work multiple operations and flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capacity to think logically, establish and follow procedures, instructions, and make sound decisions.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- Hazmat certification highly desirable.
- Familiarization with OSHA regulations desired.
- Intermediate skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience in AS-400 system is a plus.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of vessel operations, including loading, unloading, berthing, and departure procedures.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to optimize cargo handling processes, minimize turnaround times, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, maritime laws, and environmental standards during vessel operations.
- Monitor vessel schedules and optimize operational efficiency to meet customer demands and company objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, maintenance, and port authorities, to streamline operations and resolve any operational issues.
- Optimize the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and supplies, to maximize operational efficiency and minimize costs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, or technology adoption to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage operational challenges, such as inclement weather, equipment breakdowns, or labor shortages.
