Summary

*** Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin August 2026 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed June 30, 2027.

Duties:
  1. Provide instruction in didactic areas of pharmacy calculations, community pharmacy skills, top 350 drugs, interprofessional education, and clinical and skills assessments in both the in-person and extended, online PharmD curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Pharmacist licensure in the State of Hawaii at the time of hire.
  2. Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university.
  3. Pharmacy practice experience of 1-3 years with experience teaching pharmacy students.
  4. Willingness to collaborate with other faculty on team taught courses.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Experience in professional clinical training related to pharmacy education.
  2. Five (5) years pharmacy practice experience.
  3. Prior teaching experience in a PharmD program or graduate/professional education and in precepting PharmD students.
  4. Successful completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency program or post-doctoral fellowship.
  5. Experience with curricular development, assessment and evaluation in a PharmD program.
  6. Knowledge of the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
