A role in Assortment Insights means you’ll act as an internal category insights manager for your buying team. You’ll leverage data and reporting to derive insights about the company, consumer, and competitors. You’ll then translate those insights to meaningful recommendations that will guide merchants in creating strategies that gain market share, improve guest relevancy, and enhance profitability. 

 

Position Overview 

As an Assortment Insights Lead, you’ll be part of creating a new capability for Target! You’ll collaborate with your partners in core merchandising to solve some of their biggest strategic opportunities from segmentation to emerging guest trends. You will be the go-to for centralizing insights into action for your merchant partners, collaborating with insights teams across the company. In addition to using your own curiosity, you will intake questions directly from your merchant partners. Your knack for data-visualization and story-telling will be critical as you provide recommendations within business routines such as strategy planning, category transition analysis, and in-season optimization. Your influence on strategy will be measured by key performance indicators such as market share and assortment productivity and profitability. You will also use an Agile-mindset as you partner with the Merchandising Insights team who will build and provide tools and reporting that directly support your function.  Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description.  Job duties may change at any time due to business needs. 

 

About you

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience 

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience 

  • 4+ years of Merchandising or Category Management experience 

  • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills; can easily translate data from an array of sources (including market, guest, and financial) into insights and recommendations 

  • Strong communication skills with ability to visualize and tell compelling stories with data 

  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams 

  • Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing
