Purpose
Professor Alexander Zhang is hiring 1 to 2 research assistants to help identify recent court cases to use as teaching material for a 1L Contracts class. The work will involve using legal research databases to find appropriate cases, retrieving the parties’ filings for those cases, compiling the relevant cited cases from each filing, and editing/redacting parties’ filings and judicial opinions.
Responsibilities
Research and identification of recent court cases that each wrestle with a doctrinal issue taught in a typical 1L Contracts class
Retrieval of pre-opinion court filings
Editing/trimming of cases and filings
Required Qualifications
Enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin as a law student
Meet minimum eligibility requirements for student employment
Authorized to work in the United States
2L or 3L
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in and aptitude for contract law
High grade in 1L Contracts class
Salary Range
$19 per hour (2L)
$21 per hour (3L)
Working Conditions
Work may be performed at the Law School or remotely
Work Schedule
Must be available to work at least 5-10 hours per week
Position ends on December 31, 2025
Most work can be completed independently on a schedule that the employee determines with oversight and direction regarding deadlines and deliverables
