Role Summary
The Risk and Compliance Leader will lead the global Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program and will be responsible for defining, governing, and continuously improving Applied Materials’ end-to-end TPRM program across procurement and commercial third parties. This role provides enterprise oversight for third parties and ensures a consistent, risk-based approach to third-party onboarding, due diligence, contracting handoffs, ongoing monitoring, issue management, and offboarding. The leader partners closely with Procurement, Sales/Commercial, Information Security, Privacy, Legal, Internal Audit, Finance, and business stakeholders to strengthen resilience, meet regulatory and customer expectations, and reduce operational and reputational risk across the third-party ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Lead the development and execution of a global procurement risk and compliance strategy aligned with enterprise risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks across procurement and Sales/Commercial functions
- Serve as the primary liaison with Internal Audit, Legal, and Finance for procurement-related compliance and audit matters
- Ensure contract compliance, risk mitigation, and alignment with business objectives through cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Sourcing, and Category Management
- Oversee TPRM policy development and risk monitoring for third parties.
Procurement Audit & Compliance
- Lead internal and external audit engagements, ensuring timely remediation of findings and continuous improvement
- Develop and maintain compliance dashboards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms for executive leadership
Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM)
- Own and oversee the global TPRM program for Applied Materials, covering third parties across the full lifecycle (intake, risk tiering, due diligence, approval, onboarding, ongoing monitoring, issue remediation, and offboarding)
- Design and implement a scalable, risk-based TPRM framework covering onboarding, monitoring, and offboarding of suppliers
- Integrate risk tiering, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring into procurement workflows leveraging automation and AI-enabled tools
- Ensure compliance with global regulations (e.g., General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)) and industry standards
Leadership Qualities
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority in a matrixed, global environment.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex risk and compliance issues to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, contracting, compliance, audit, or risk management, preferably in a global organization.
- Deep understanding of procurement processes, contract law, regulatory compliance, and third-party risk.
- Experience with procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba), risk tools, and data analytics platform
