LR_Operator - Control Room (385508)

Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s

System Monitoring: 

• Monitor conveyor systems through the control room interface to ensure continuous operation and identify any issues that may require attention. 
• Start, stop, or adjust conveyor belts and auxiliary systems as needed to optimize product flow and system performance. 
• Detect, log, and report any mechanical or electrical malfunctions, and notify maintenance teams for prompt resolution. 
• Maintain clear and timely communication with field operators, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding operations, equipment status, or emergencies. 
• Ensure all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations. Immediately report and respond to any safety hazards or incidents. 
• Record operational data and provide daily shift reports on system performance, downtimes, or maintenance activities 
• Take prompt and appropriate action in case of an emergency, including activating alarms and following emergency response protocols.

Employee Development 

• Participate in personal Training and Development to improve skills.

Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

Education: 

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in industrial operations or electrical systems is an asset. 
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in conveyor system operations or control room operations, preferably in a mining or port environment.

Core Competencies / Skills

Essential 

• Strong understanding of conveyor systems and mechanical processes. 
• Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems is preferred. 
• Excellent communication and coordination skills. 
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. 
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and control room monitoring software.

Essential 

• Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.

Desirable 

• Able to build relationships and engage people in continuous improvement processes. 
• Always identify the priorities correctly and work in a self-directed manner.

Working Conditions

• Primarily stationed in a control room setting with minimal exposure to outdoor elements. 
• The control room is climate-controlled but may experience noise and vibrations from equipment. 
• Occasional site visits to conveyors, ship loaders, or transfer stations may be required, exposing operators to outdoor conditions such as heat, dust, and rain.
