About Applications Development at UPS Technology:
Our Application Development teams use their expertise in programming languages and software design to develop next-generation technology. They are responsible for developing the applications which track and move up to 38 million packages in a single day (4.7 billion annually). This team works closely with all of our customers to build innovative technologies that are customized to drive our business and provide the ultimate customer experience. As a member of the applications development family, you will help UPS grow and provide valuable services across the globe.
About this role:
The Lead S/W Development Engineer position is with the iShip, Inc subsidiary in Bellevue WA, having a small tech company feel within the large UPS IT community. Close team of technology professionals working on projects critical to the success of The UPS Store and other UPS operations. On-Site work is now required 3 days per Week as a hybrid model, and we will take folks at UPS technology offices in San Diego CA, Parsippany NJ, and Bellevue (Seattle) WA.
This Lead S/W Development Engineer will be part of a team that works on InfoSec based projects primarily including Application security, Information security, Intrusion Detection, Access Control, Attack Surface Mgmt, Encryption and Data Loss Prevention, etc. as needed.
The Lead S/W Development Engineer will in general be part of a team that works on multiple iShip.com web applications and backend web services. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical analysis, design, development, implementation, and execution of test (unit, service, service integration, service performance, security) of the integration points on a multitude of applications within the iShip landscape, vendor owned, or technical debt. He/She analyzes requirements and validates appropriate solutions have been designed, as well as provide knowledge, support and guidance to application team for applications development, integration, and maintenance.
The Lead S/W Development Engineer also must be capable of fulfilling all Senior Applications Developer duties as needed:
- “The Senior S/W Development Engineer provides input and support for, and performs full systems life cycle management activities (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.). He/She participates in component and data architecture design, technology planning, and testing for Applications Development (AD) initiatives to meet business requirements. This position provides input to applications development project plans and integrations. He/She collaborates with teams and supports emerging technologies to ensure effective communication and achievement of objectives. This position provides knowledge and support for applications development, integration, and maintenance. He/She provides input to department and project teams on decisions supporting projects”
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with .NET, C# .NET, and SQL Language
- Knowledge of Cloud based application development and deployments desired. Either Private or Public Cloud experience is acceptable.
- Familiarity with DevOps, GIT Flow and general modern software engineering pipelines. This can be in non-.NET/Windows environments, Java, Linux etc. acceptable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or the equivalent in education and work experience
