Position Overview
As the Senior Director of Mechanical Engineering, you will lead a talented team of 85mechanical engineers and manage 4 director-level direct reports. This strategic leadership role will drive mechanical engineering excellence across our product portfolio, ensuring design integrity, manufacturability, and continuous innovation. You will be responsible for establishing engineering standards, processes, and methodologies that enable our teams to deliver world-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the mechanical engineering organization, aligning team goals with overall business objectives.

  • Oversee engineering development across all product lines, including production equipment, inspection systems, drying/curing devices, and corona cleaning systems.

  • Lead a team of 85 mechanical engineers through 4 director-level reports who manage functional areas within mechanical engineering.

  • Drive innovation in mechanical design to create competitive advantages in product performance, reliability, and cost.

  • Establish technical standards, processes, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all engineering deliverables.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in manufacturing, electrical engineering, software development, and program management.

  • Develop and implement mechanical engineering strategies that support new product development and existing product improvement.

  • Manage department budget, resource allocation, and equipment/technology investments.

  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, creating growth opportunities and career paths.

  • Partner with supply chain to optimize component selection, cost, and reliability.

  • Develop Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes to streamline product updates and modifications.

  • Create and implement metrics to assess engineering team performance and drive accountability.

  • Develop engineering systems to consolidate global teams, enhancing collaboration and efficiency.

  • Improve engineering design reviews to ensure thorough evaluation and feedback on design concepts.

  • Help build strong Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VaVe) practices to enhance product value and reduce costs.

  • Develop personal and professional development plans for team members, focusing on succession planning and team health.

  • Identify and implement strategies to improve department efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering with at least 8 years in leadership/leading leaders’ roles.

  • Proven experience managing large engineering teams with multiple layers of management.

  • Deep technical knowledge of precision mechanical systems, preferably in production equipment design.

  • Experience with mechatronic systems, precision motion control, and industrial automation.
