Performs as a Nursing Assistant within the care management team under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Performs delegated nursing tasks for which competence is demonstrated through the Nursing Assistant skills checklist.

• Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations at a level preferably acquired through completion of a high school education or equivalent.

• Registered with the State of Wisconsin Registry for Nursing Assistants (CNA) to be eligible for employment in the basic provider settings.

• Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.

• Possesses and competently demonstrates core Nursing Assistant skills as outlined in the skill competency checklist and understands the role of performing delegated tasks.

• Possesses a willingness and the initiative to successfully complete educational requirements while developing and learning new skills as required by the unit.

• Possesses effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team.

• Possesses rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations.

Unit Description:

West 11 is a 24-bed acute care unit. Nurses on this unit cares for medical patients. Some of the main diagnoses include gastroenterology, endocrine/diabetes, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary and adolescent eating disorders, in addition to other general medical diagnoses. This is one of two units designated for behavioral health patients who require medical care.

Schedule:

1 - 12 hour and 1 - 8 hour night shift. 11:00PM-7:30AM weekday and 7:00PM-7:00AM weekend.
