Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Safety Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Grand Prairie, TX. In this role, you will work in a close relationship with the project team, architects and designers to help execute all aspects related to safety and reliability. You will also ensure that Airbus products are developed, designed, produced and supported according to state-of-art and the relevant safety standards.

Your Working Environment:

A suburb just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area is home to Airbus Helicopters U.S. regional headquarters, where we have more than 1,000 employees. Your Challenges:

Safety Analysis:  70%

  • Analyze system architectures, systems and subsystems concerning safety, failure cases and hazards
  • Check design characteristics to reach safety performance for all kind of helicopter applications
  • Support the systems installation inside the aircraft to reduce risks of cascading failure, fire or risks in case of collision with birds.
  • Drive design and architectures to secure programs success
  • Define, if needed, recommendation to modify the flight manual for operational safety
  • Challenge components and system suppliers to ensure a design fulfilling safety / reliability requirements
  • Produce reports regarding analysis performed

Certification activities:  30%

  • Support demonstration to official services (FAA/EASA, Customer’s own Airworthiness Authority) that safety objectives of the regulations are met in order to contribute to the certification / qualification.
  • Support the airworthiness and project team in the design choice and certification / qualification strategy
  • Support the development of certification / qualification packages including certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans
  • Coordinate with FAA DERs and ODA Unit Members or other applicable authority representatives in support of certificatio
