Director, Hospital Operations
Location: Decatur, Illinois
About the Opportunity
The Director, Hospital Operations serves as a key architect of strategy, with authority and accountability for shaping direction, setting priorities, and ensuring that operational plans advance enterprise goals. This role partners closely with leaders across the System to drive operational excellence, optimize performance, and deliver customer-focused, cost-effective, and high-quality services that strengthen organizational outcomes and future readiness.
The Director, Hospital Operations will embody the Memorial Health values of safety, integrity, quality and stewardship to support the mission and vision.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration, or health-related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- Demonstrated competence in lean six sigma performance improvement methodologies required; certification as Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt desired.
- Fellow of American College of Health Care Executives (FACHE) preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of healthcare operations experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role is required.

Operational Driver: Leads and executes initiatives that enhance quality, access, and efficiency across clinical support services. Utilizes project management and performance improvement methodologies to achieve measurable results in patient care and operational performance.
Financial Steward: Applies sound financial judgment to evaluate and implement cost-effective service line improvements. Ensure resource utilization while supporting innovation and sustainable growth across the cardiovascular program.
Change Champion: Promotes a culture of innovation, equity, and continuous improvement. Encourages teams to embrace change, challenge existing practices, and develop solutions that elevate the patient and provider experience.
