The Leominster Team is looking to fill the role of Material Handler in their Leominster, Massachusetts facility. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products within our manufacturing facility, contributing directly to our production goals. This involves a variety of tasks, from preparing materials and equipment to quality control and inventory management.
The Leominster site is one of the manufacturing sites for IPL’s Large Format and Retail Packaging (LF&R) business in the United States. LF&R is a growing segment, with annual revenue of approximately $200m and significant growth potential, and is part of the Environmental, Returnable and Industrial Solutions (ERIS) Division of IPL.
Position Title: Forklift Driver, 12-hour days, Sunday - Tuesday & alternating Wednesday's
Location: Leominster, Massachusetts
Responsibilities:
• Utilize a forklift and/or hand-jack to move product throughout production/warehouse.
• Utilize a handheld scanner for inventory control purposes.
• Monitor quantities of various materials such as regrind, virgin, concentrate drums, and corrugated boxes. Inform Shift Supervisor when counts are low.
• Supply machines with proper concentrates throughout the shift, as well as fulfill color requirements for following shifts.
• Assemble trays and boxes for packaging and provide necessary materials for the following shift.
• Ensure machines are consistently supplied with handles and grips, monitoring and forecasting needs.
• Transport materials to designated areas, including the printing department and grinding area.
• Wrap finished products and utilize a forklift to store them in the racking system.
Quality Control:
• Inspect products for quality and meticulously record findings on production sheets at each machine.
• Perform lid fit tests to ensure proper sealing.
• Verify the accuracy of UPC, carton, and pallet labels.
• Transport rejected products or scrap material to the grinding area.
Production Support:
• Properly label and stamp trays, assisting assemblers with label roll changes.
• Assist with color changes as needed.
• Perform grinding duties as needed.
• Scan products into the inventory control system.
• Maintain a clean and organized manufacturing area, clearing pallets, debris, and obstructions.
Teamwork & Communication:
• Report any problems, discrepancies, or defects to the Shift Supervisor.
• Assist the Shift Supervisor and Machine Assemblers in meeting quality and production standards.
• Provide breaks and meal periods to operators as needed.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus.
• Forklift certification is preferred but not required (we offer training!).
• Ability to lift and move up to [weight] pounds.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills for inventory management.
