Platform Ingest at Elastic is responsible for building tools to collect and ingest data easily, efficiently, and quickly. We are responsible for Elastic Agent as a unified data collector for elastic solutions, Fleet as a central management platform, Integrations platform as a marketplace experience to discover and build third party integrations to bring data into Elastic stack, and data transformation and processing tooling of Logstash, ingest pipelines and runtime fields.

The Platform Ingest team is looking for an engineer to continue building the Elastic Agent deployment model on Kubernetes using the Operator pattern. So if you are looking to work on a high-impact, high-adoption product with a diverse and talented engineering team, please come join us!

What you will be working on:

• Maintain and evolve the current Beats platform, Elastic Agent and Fleet Server, all written in Go.
• Develop features for macOS, Windows and Linux.
• Design and build new features for those components.
• Work with our support team to help customers.
• Interact with the community, understand their needs and help them use our products.
• Collaborate with other development teams, quality engineering team and documentation team to execute on product deliverables.
• Spread the word, write blog posts about features you worked on, speak at conferences, if you are willing to.

The roadmap for the broader team:

• The main goal for the team is delivering the new ingest experience, consisting of the new Elastic Agent, the Fleet management platform, and the new package management approach to delivering integrations.
• As part of this new experience, there are multiple improvements across the whole stack that will require the team’s involvement.
• The team will also need to focus on how to help users transition from the current to the new experience.

What you will bring along:

• Production experience with Go at scale. 
• Experience leading technical conversations and coming up with a decision.
• Experience creating system-level software and back-end services on Linux. 
• System-level knowledge of either Linux, Windows, or macOS.
• Operational experience with monitoring systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a great teammate with strong analytical, problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work in a distributed team throughout the world.

Bonus Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience gathering data on the edge and shipping them to a central place.
