SPACE SYSTEMS

Rocket Lab’s Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.

SENIOR EQUIPMENT ENGINEER

As a Senior Equipment Engineer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, you will have ownership of the maintenance and calibration of all equipment used. You will be responsible for developing the asset register, maintenance system, maintenance plans and completing maintenance activities. WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Create, maintain, and carry out preventative maintenance requirements for each piece of equipment at SolAero
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment, disassembling and reassembling of actuators, Flow, Pressure, Density, Temperature Meters, Positive and Non-positive displacement pumps, and valves (including but not limited to Gate, Globe, Ball, Butterfly, Check, Pressure, Double Block and Diaphragm)
  • Perform mechanical work on or around process piping (liquid and pneumatic)
  • Assist with the implementation of the company Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Create and maintain a system for calibration of critical tools and equipment across Albuquerque Sites
  • Assess and select (with the other stakeholders) the best out-sourced maintenance and calibration vendors for the company.
  • Create technician training documents for SOP’s

QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS A SENIOR EQUIPMENT ENGINEER:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in a production or any highly regulated manufacturing environment

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Skilled trade, aeronautical or manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of Infor LN and/or Hippo or equivalent CMMS package ·
  • Implemented new CMMS systems before. ·
  • Mig, Tig, Stick, Brazing and Soldering skills are a plus
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
  • Takes initiative and can work unguided
  • Remains calm under pressure and an excellent communicator

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
