Description
The Senior Industrial Hygienist will be responsible for overseeing and managing the assessment and abatement of asbestos, lead, mold, and other hazardous materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing field operations, managing abatement and remediation projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and providing expert consultation on environmental health and safety matters. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to lead a team of environmental professionals. Additionally, the Senior Industrial Hygienist will mentor junior staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster safe and healthy work environments.
This position can be filled in Cary, Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro, NC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage asbestos, lead, mold, and hazardous material assessments, including abatement and remediation projects.
- Develop and implement exposure monitoring plans, including air quality testing, noise surveys, and other occupational exposure measurements.
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to ensure proper design and implementation of engineering controls to minimize risks.
- Deliver training programs for employees and contractors on safety, health risks, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Prepare proposals and technical reports, safety documentation, and regulatory submissions as required.
- Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies during inspections or investigations.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in industrial hygiene or similar field.
- Must hold a license to perform asbestos and lead-paint services in North Carolina. Licenses for asbestos and lead-paint services in Virginia and South Carolina are desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in conducting risk assessments and exposure monitoring.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in the use of industrial hygiene instruments and software.
- Experience in a senior or lead role is highly desirable.
- Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License with the ability to pass a MVR records check.
