Position Overview:

Reporting to the AVP, Data Transformation & Integration Manager, the Data Operations Lead is a senior individual contributor within Ascot’s Data Strategy & Delivery organization, responsible for bridging business needs and technical solutions across data initiatives. This role focuses on gathering and translating business and technical requirements, leading data-related projects, and facilitating solution design across reporting, analytics, and data platforms. The ideal candidate is highly versatile — equally comfortable engaging with business stakeholders, working with technical teams, and guiding solutions from concept through delivery. This role will be in the office with a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, and data needs across operations, finance, underwriting, and compliance.

  • Lead requirements-gathering efforts, translating business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical requirements.

  • Lead data-focused initiatives and workstreams from intake through delivery, coordinating across data engineering, BI, and operational teams.
  • Drive alignment on scope, priorities, and delivery approach while balancing short-term needs with long-term data strategy.
  • Facilitate solution design discussions, working with technical teams to evaluate options and recommend practical, scalable approaches.

  • Ensure proposed solutions align with Ascot data standards, architecture, and best practices.

  • Act as a thought partner to both business and technical teams, helping shape solutions that are accurate, sustainable, and fit for purpose.

  • Partner with business and compliance stakeholders to ensure Ascot can meet legal and regulatory reporting requirements by translating requirements into clear data and reporting solutions.

  • Lead and support the design, development, and ongoing management of SQL-based reports, including bordereau and data call reporting, leveraging data from multiple enterprise data sources.

  • Support the Operations department by enabling data quality analysis, investigating data issues, and helping identify root causes and remediation paths in partnership with technical teams.

  • Commitment to The Ascot Way: Embody The Ascot Way in their daily interaction with colleagues, fostering colleague engagement and development, collaboration, inclusivity, and individual accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 10+ years of experience working in data, analytics, or reporting roles within complex enterprise environments.

  • Experience working with financial, operational, or regulatory data required; insurance or financial services industry experience preferred.

  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and investigation.

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing, reporting, and analytics concepts.

  • Ability to read and interpret data models and understand upstream/downstream data impacts.

  • Experience partnering with BI tools (e.g., Power BI)
