About the role

CR Machine is a custom design, machining, fabrication, and repair company supporting coal mining operations in the Appalachia and Illinois Basin. The mission of CR Machine is to keep our parent company’s mining operations equipped with high-quality products while providing cost savings to our stakeholders. We will grow our operational capacity to not only fully support those mining operations but also expand into other industrial and energy markets in the United States.

We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Manager who can implement a quality management system based on the PDCA cycle, continuous improvement, and risk-bases thinking that will drive improvements and enhance opportunities for company growth and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality processes, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous quality enhancement throughout the entire operation of our company to comply with all applicable requirements of the ISO9001:2015 standard.

CR Machine is affiliated with Matrix Design Group, LLC based out of Newburgh, IN. This position is at our Machine Shop facilities in Madisonville, KY. Occasional travel is required.

This position reports to the Director of Quality at Matrix Design Group.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain a robust quality management system.

• Trains and motivates employees to ensure that quality standards are met.

• Schedule and facilitate internal and external audits.

• Ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards.

• Development of inspection guidelines for incoming components and materials.

• Assist with establishing part tolerances and standards.

• Development, implementation, and maintaining a calibration program.

• Prepare reports and documentation on malfunctions and corrective measures.

• Lead teams in follow-through of corrective and preventive actions.

• Support the company’s continuous improvement and lean initiatives.

• Perform risk assessments and implement control plans.

• Audit production activities according to the production plans.

• Engage with external providers to ensure robust quality of outsourced components.

• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies, and maintaining ASQ-certified quality engineer qualification.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or equivalent discipline.

• 5+ years’ experience in related field.

• Experience in continuous improvement, lean concepts, or kaizen.

• Understanding of quality standards and safety regulations.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Working Conditions

• Primary office work with frequent visits to the plant floor requiring PPE such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Physical Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, or crouch. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
