In this position... 
A senior technical leadership role within Structural Castings, Vehicle Hardware Engineering, responsible for technical content, strategy & processes.  In this role, you will serve as the Technical Leader for all casting-related matters ensuring robust design & delivery of components & vehicle systems.  This position will lead all technical aspects of Ford’s global Castings product strategy, including product concept development, business case approval, supplier and internal manufacturing partnerships, product development, verification & validation, launch/sign-off & ongoing support & quality assurance of products in the field.  In addition, the Structural Casting technical leader will develop & lead professional development of casting team members, oversee foundation document creation & enforcement of prevent recurrence, guiding development of Structural Casting standardized tools, methods & execution.
 

  • The Structural Castings Technical Leader is a recognized & accomplished technical expert who can interface with all levels of management & outside activities on Casting related matters.

  • Assist Global Chief Engineer & Casting management in the identification, resolution & presentation of department technical strategies, objectives, mission & values.

  • Act as technical architect/leader for Structural Casting function on a global scale.

  • Act as technical resource internally & externally on component & vehicle systems. Provide technical support to global teams.

  • Recommend, develop & verify applications for new & advanced Structural Casting designs.

  • Analyze designs during the development process & address any potential failures & errors.

  • Lead design of new concepts to improve Structural Casting system performance & provide leadership & support for timely implementation.

  • Monitor & investigate new Structural Casting system technologies to develop and maintain company position as industry leader in this field.

  • Guide & oversee training, mentoring & provide consulting to department engineers, supervisors & other interfacing functions.

  • Support Campaign Prevent for Structural Casting systems.

  • Support CCRG for any Structural Casting matters.

  • Provide technical advice to ASO, OGC & Design Analysis for any Structural Casting issue.

  • Construct & develop simple and complex business cases for various designs & commercial situations tied to casting integration into vehicle structures.

  • Guide development of Structural Casting module system tools, methods & processes for improved Product Development cycles applying castings.

  • Lead development & ongoing maintenance/update of commodity specific standards, specifications & verification methods.

  • Lead development & deployment of all commodity foundation documents including DFMEAs, SCCAFs, Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, DVP&R & integration manuals.

  • Lead technical design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA).

  • Co-Lead supplier selection & development with Ford Purchasing, Manufacturing Strategy office, and cross-functional teams.

  • Lead & drive prevent recurrence process for Structural Casting systems & components.

  • Ability to share & present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership.

Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders including program teams, purchasing, manufacturing, STA & suppliers.

You'll have...


• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering discipline.
• 10+ years’ experience in automotive engineering leadership position (or like industry), including direct team leadership responsibility.
• 5+ years engineering experience with high pressure die casting design and manufacturing processes including the secondary operations associated with castings, including, but not limited to trimming, straightening, and quality checks.
• 5+ years engineering experience with alloys, especially those used for structural castings and advanced light weighting materials and associ
