Job Purpose:
This position, under the limited direction of the Technical Support & Data Processor Manager, provide advanced technical support on credit insurance, compliance, lending practices and calculations used throughout the industry. Provide a wide range of support and expertise to both internal and external customers. Provide technical problem-solving guidance and assistance to lower level staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- 5% 1. Train DP Support Specialist II on support functions, as needed, including writing and maintaining training manuals.
- 5% 2. Provide back up support to technical support staff as needed.
- 20% 3. Write and maintain programming specifications for loan disclosures, month-end premium processing and credit insurance products used by data processors, disclosure tool providers, TruStage lending software tools (ALWIN, PC Loan Calc, loanliner.com. Research new or changing compliance regulations with assistance from Legal and translate those changes to the published specifications. Provide direction in the testing of software by the DP Support Specialist I & II staff.
- 10% 4. Write and maintain calculation engine documentation.
- 25% 5. Provide support for the implementation of the calculation engines to both internal and external customers. This includes responding to highly technical questions regarding hardware environment, software interfaces, lending and insurance compliance, testing and validation of system outputs, problem solving to correct errors and maintaining on-going business contacts.
- 10% 6. Track and coordinate enhancements to and testing of the calculation engines prior to distribution to the marketplace.
- 5% 7. Program new calculations for special (non-standard LOANLINER Home Equity plans. Maintain and support those programs and calculations in subsequent years.
- 10% 8. Write custom PC programs for use by credit unions for special calculations to process monthly credit insurance premiums when their data processor is unable or unwilling to support this function. Write programs for testing new/revised applications. Test, maintain and support programs as needed.
- 10% 9. Provide technical assistance to other LSE departments, such as FMD Workgroups, actuary, ITS and other departments in TruStage, such as Legal, IT, and field marketing divisions, for Truth-in-Lending disclosures required by consumer and real estate lending (including Home Equity with an emphasis in the calculations involved, interest theory, and data processor capabilities. Represent the department on calculation issues involving new regulations, new calculations, projects where credit insurance delivery is involved and other general projects within LSE and other enterprise projects.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, mathematics or related field or equivalent trade-off in related professional work experience.
- 5 1/2 years work experience with the most recent two years at Level II in credit insurance and/or lending including a thorough understanding of the premium formulas and interest theory.
- Demonstrated knowledge of interest theory, Truth-in-Lending disclosure requirements and credit union lending practices and the distribution channels used in lending.
- Demonstrated proficiency in application software (WORD, Excel, Access and at least one programming software (Dbase, Foxpro, Basic, Visual Basic, etc .
- Demonstrated communication skills both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, face to face and over the telephone.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
