Senior Business Analyst

This role supports technology maintenance and changes covering the work of the Research and Methodology department (R&M). The scope of the role covers R&M technology in relation to several key areas such as business process improvements, product and methodological enhancements, technology-driven upgrades, and error/bug fixing. The role implies among others ownership over business process technology requirements, backlog management for R&M technology development requests, change requests, and errors, coordination of user acceptance tests implemented by R&M, as well as liaising with business and technology stakeholders in the context of technology development and ensuring transparency and communication between the two. 
 

Responsibilities

• Owns R&M business process requirements for technology development: 

• Writes, collects, and/or coordinates the collection of business requirements for technology development concerning R&M processes (requirements will be based on continuous improvement activities covering the work of R&M teams and/or product and methodological maintenance and development), ensures business process requirements are written in the proper format for technology use, coordinates the business requirements backlog, ensures management for change requests. 

• Actively engages with business stakeholders to understand potential areas in need of improvement that can be mitigated through technology and proposes potential requirements through the appropriate processes.  

• Liaises with business and technology stakeholders in the context of technology development and ensures transparency and communication between the two. 

• Coordinates user acceptance tests for technology development impacting R&M business processes. 

• Asses non-R&M technology-driven developments that concern platforms used by R&M and evaluates any impact on R&M processes. 

• Acts as a point of contact within R&M for key research platforms. 

• Supports business representatives in understanding the functionalities of key research platforms. 

• Coordinates with other relevant stakeholders and, when applicable, subject to consultation with and approval from R&M leadership, ensures alignment on business requirements with them. 

• Ensures R&M’s oversight of research platform errors and bugs affecting R&M business processes and supports business and technology stakeholders in the resolution process.  

• Ensures support for R&M Operations on processes covering the maintenance of product or methodological structures within research platforms.  

Required skills 

• Good understanding of data technology and related development processes: general overview of software development stages, user stories, key stakeholders, agile vs. waterfall methodologies, distinction between front-end and back-end, interplay between platform functionalities, data synchronization processes etc. 

• Ability to understand, explain, and summarize business processes for technology stakeholders using the appropriate business and technical vernacular, as well as to explain technology developments to business representatives. 

• 3+ years experience in writing business requirements for software development.  

• 3+ years experience in participating/coordinating user acceptance tests. 

• Excellent time management skills, ability to self-prioritize their own tasks, and capacity to deal with multiple strict deadlines. 

• Advanced Office skills: Excel, Power Point, SharePoint 

• Thrives in a dynamic environment and rapidly adjusts to changes. 

• Excellent soft skills (presentation skills, communication, networking, negotiation)  

• English business proficiency
