Job Summary 
The Senior Accounting Analyst reports to the Engineering Accounting Manager and supports the accounting requirements for new product development and ongoing business within Kenworth’s Engineering organization. Position is actively involved in driving the annual budget and monthly forecast preparation and related forecast to actual analysis for Engineering departments. The position interacts frequently with department managers, Division Accounting teams, Director of Division Accounting, Assistant Division Controller and Division Controller

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Business Partner with the Product Development team on the accounting/finance related elements of development of business plans and assumptions for assigned programs. 
  • Responsible for coordinating and facilitating annual budget preparations and uploads for assigned Kenworth Engineering departments.
  • Track and report on progress towards overall project goals for assigned programs and departments. 
  • Facilitate monthly forecast meetings with Engineering department managers and upload data to forecast system.
  • Analyze monthly results to forecast comparisons, ensuring any adjusting entries including intercompany charges, are made in ERP system.
  • Track and report on capital and expense costs associated with new products.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for assigned Engineering accounts.
  • Work closely with external auditors to prepare supporting schedules for area of responsibility.
  • Participate in internal control documentation and testing for Sarbanes Oxley and Other Internal Controls.
  • Perform other special projects and tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong analytical and computer skills in Excel (i.e. pivot tables, macros, charts and graphs) and data analytic tools (i.e. tableau, Alteryx, Power-Bi)
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated, handling multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to understand the wider perspective.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 1-2 years of relevant accounting or work experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing and with SAP preferred.
