Research Project Manager

The Pediatric Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Research Project Manager within the Johns Hopkins Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine to support the strategic planning for the Divisions of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and the development and implementation of projects focused on advancing the JHM strategic priorities – People, Biomedical Discovery, Education, Patient- and Family-Centered Care, Integration, and Performance. The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the implementation, coordination, status reporting and stability of Peds ACCM projects that have significant and direct impact on the strategic priorities and the clinical, fiscal, and administrative operations Pediatric ACCM. The major focus of the Project Manager is supporting the ACTFAST program: Adopting Comprehensive Training for Firearm Safety in Trauma Centers. This program will unite multiple professional teams and community groups to provide comprehensive clinician education to set a national standard for supporting the trauma-informed promotion of firearm safety in the inpatient setting.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Defines projects in collaboration with key stakeholders. Assembles appropriate project team and defines key tasks and deadlines necessary for execution of deliverables.
• Assembles comprehensive project plans and communicates project teamwork assignments. Executes necessary follow-up during implementation.
• Supports data collection to identify strategic and operational opportunities, monitor project outcomes, and closes projects with after-action reviews. Oversees implementation of strategic plan in partnership with the project leadership team, led by Dr. Katherine Hoops. Manages full project planning lifecycle of all strategic and operational projects (planning, initiating, implementing, monitoring and controlling, and closing).
• Adheres to established project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet assigned expectations. Leverages project management tools (i.e., Gantt chart, project schedules, project portfolios) to update departmental and project leadership of project status or barriers to implementation. Closes projects with after-action reviews.
• Provides regular updates to project leadership on project progress using templates and project dashboard.
• Implements and manages change in project scope to ensure completion of strategic priorities.
• Evaluate and assess overall results of projects for efficacy and effectiveness.
• Supports project communications via email as well as facilitating project promotion in partnership with Children’s Center and Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions media teams.
• Supports project leadership and ACCM Administrative Director in prioritizing and executing departmental space planning and coordinating faculty and staff relocations. Ensures projects fall within scope and budget set by project leadership.
• Provide administrative support and calendar management assistance to project Principal Investigator as it relates to the ACTFAST program.
• Assist with coordinating complex projects such as community outreach and awareness events including the annual Break the Cycle Summit to Prevent Gun Violence hosted by Johns Hopkins Medicine and related safe firearm storage activities.
• Research and assemble materials for presentations and educational projects including ACTFAST.
• Interface and manage collaborations and communications between ACTFAST sites across the country and maintain program website and materials.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Systems Operations, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  

• One year related experience, with demonstrated practical project management experience.
• Knowledge of project management, strategic planning, and change management techniques and tools.
• Additional education may substitute for some experience, and additional experience may substitute for education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.

Starting Salary Range: Min $75,000 - Max $131,300 annually ($85,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
